Absolutely. You can import your database manually or automatically. Alternatively, you can integrate codeREADr with your server to send and receive information directly.
Do we need to print labels for our assets or will the codes attached to them already work?
If your assets have barcodes like UPC attached to them already, we can read this code and allow you to add information about the item to your database. If the assets are bare, you need to attach the barcode to it in some way.
The vast majority of our customers use a third party vendor- one we recommend is ID&C, but any company should work -for the labels themselves. While you can generate barcode values and images on codeREADr, it is generally time consuming and not meant for actions such as label printing. Once you’ve purchased labels, you can either upload a database of the values you’ve received or scan each code in as you perform an audit.
How can I prevent duplicate additions to our database?
Our recommendation for inventory auditing is to use database builder if you will be scanning in each item as you go rather than using a pre-existing database. When using DBB, the app will alert the user when an item is already in the database.
Can we add things like photos or question answers along with the item in the database?
Advanced Database Builder using Postback allows you to make changes to our default questions with our standard DBB. Using this service, you can attach question responses to your barcode value so that this data is linked.
Can I see who added each item to our inventory?
By creating different users, each audit can be segmented by who has scanned each item.
Is there some sort of report I can generate when our audit is completed?
On the Scans page, you can filter and view a report of only the last scan record for each asset to show where assets are, to show who scanned the asset, and even automatically export those records to Excel, Google Sheets, etc. When exported you can sort scans by ‘timestamp scanned’ to help schedule audits or to find assets missed in the last (or current) audit.
How can we update the quantity or other information about an item?
Our recommendation for inventory auditing is to use database builder if you will be editing your database in any way. When using DBB, the app will give the user the option to edit the details of an item listing in the database.
Can we scan things out as well as in? Can we decrease the quantity of an item as it is taken out?
A special feature we offer is the Auto Increment/Decrement middleware. It is a bit advanced but when configured, any item scanned in or out can increase or decrease the current inventory count for that asset by the quantity scanned each time.
Can I make the app look any differently, e.g. change what it says when an item is invalid or include my company’s logo?
Every paid plan has unlimited scans and databases available. Our pricing model is per device. A device is counted as billable if your authorized app-user signs into the device anytime during your monthly billing period. The monthly count is not based on concurrently used devices but instead, the total number of unique devices that signed in during your monthly billing period. Each month this count resets and each device sign in counts towards your plan limit.
Do we need special hardware to scan assets?
codeREADr is compatible with most devices. This includes iOS, Android, and mobile computers. We do not sell any hardware so it is up to you to decide on which devices you will use codeREADr.
What if there is poor internet connection on location?
codeREADr works offline as well as online. While certain features, such as conditional validation require internet connection, the basic functionality of scanning an asset’s barcode value is available for download and use without internet.
