What is a Scan Link?
A CodeREADr Scan Link is a custom web link that uses a URI scheme to pass a scan value directly to the CodeREADr app. Instead of relying on the app’s default Lookup view, Scan Links let you display a URL of your choice in its place.
How Does a Scan Link Work?
A Scan Link follows this format:
codereadr://scan/?id=SCAN_VALUE
Here’s how it works:
- You create a webpage containing links formatted with this custom URI scheme.
- When a user clicks a Scan Link, the app processes the link as if it’s a scan submission for the currently selected service.
How to Set Up CodeREADr Scan Links
Follow these easy steps to configure and use Scan Links in the CodeREADr app:
Step 1: Create a Webpage with Scan Links
- Design a webpage and include links using the custom URI scheme.
- Example: codereadr://scan/?id=12345
- Replace 12345 with the specific scan value you want the app to receive.
Step 2: Enable Custom Lookup in Your Service
- Log in to your CodeREADr account and go to the Advanced Settings page for the desired service.
- Locate the Enable Custom Web View “Lookup” option.
- Enter the URL of the webpage you created in Step 1.
Why Use Scan Links?
- Enhanced Customization: Replace the default Lookup view with your own webpage.
- Seamless Integration: Allow the app to process scan values directly from the links you provide.
- Simplified Workflow: Streamline data submissions for users.
By following these steps, you can optimize your app’s functionality with custom Scan Links, improving both efficiency and user experience.
