What is an unconfirmed email address, and why do I see that on the Users page?
Background
There are two (2) types of app usernames:
a. Email address
Your mobile app users can create and manage their own passwords using email addresses and the Forgot Password functionality. If they are signed up using their Google account, they can use “Sign in with Google.” You can also set up SSO integrations for quick and seamless logins. A generic email address can be used if multiple people use the same device.
b. Plain text usernames
Instead of email addresses, plain text usernames are also available. These are useful when you don’t know the app user’s email address or when you relate the app user’s scans to an activity, location, etc., instead of a person. With plain text usernames, you control the app username. Note: There are other ways to capture an activity or location with each scan, so you don’t have to always use the app username.
Confirming Email Addresses
If you created email addresses for app usernames before the end of June 2024, the system did not email the owner to confirm their address. Those email addresses must be confirmed before the end of January 2025.
On the Users page, you will see the labels “Unconfirmed” and “Confirm Email” as links.
- If you know the email address is valid, click “Confirm Email” to have the system email the owner to confirm the address.
- Alternatively, you can rename the app user with a plain text username and enter a password for the user to enter instead. In that way, they will not get an email from CodeREADr.
On Feb 1, 2025 unconfirmed email addresses will no longer be able to sign into the app until the address is confirmed.
