FAQs About Healthcare Check-Ins
Do I use CodeREADr to create ID credentials for my employees?
The vast majority of our customers use a third-party service for the process of credential creation itself. While you can generate barcode values and images on CodeREADr, it is generally time-consuming. Also, it is not ideal for provisioning credentials. Most customers manually create and fill a database or automatically upload a database of IDs to our site and use our app for verifying the values on location.
Do my patients need physical ID cards or do they need to use smartphones?
Our barcode scanner will work with virtually any barcode in any form. This includes small, dense, damaged, partially obscured, poorly printed barcodes, and even barcodes at extreme angles. If you are having trouble scanning in your conditions, we offer SD PRO – an advanced scanning engine that is even more accurate.
If you would like to create digital IDs for your patients, one app we recommend is ID123. Finally, patient names can serve as their ID value in your database. Therefore, you do not need a barcode on hand at all if you have an associated database. One feature that comes as a default on our app is “Lookup.” The Lookup feature allows any user to search the associated database and create a scan record for a barcode without physically scanning anything.
Is pricing based on how many IDs we have registered?
Duplicate Checking and Validating Barcodes – a feature that can be implemented on validate scans services- alerts the user that a barcode has already been scanned.
Can I include a picture of the person or important medical reminders to be shown when their ID is scanned?
When importing or creating your database on CodeREADr, you can use Webify formatting to include photos hosted remotely. The response text can include virtually any information you’d like to associate and display with the person you are tracking.
Can I see who is currently in a room?
If you want to track when people come and go, you probably will want to use Check-In/Out. This service has the option to disallow check-in without checking out or vice versa.
Using Check In/Out, you can access a live portal online that shows the status of all IDs in a given database effectively allow you to monitor the current status of all ID holders. As well, using the Scans page, you can search for the latest scan of any ID.
Can we scan things out as well as in? Can we decrease the quantity of an item as it is taken out?
A special feature we offer is the Auto Increment/Decrement middleware. It is a bit advanced but when configured, any item scanned in or out can increase or decrease the current inventory count for that asset by the quantity scanned each time.
How can my employees add notes and/or answer about their patient?
Using our Questions feature, you can include the option to add notes, answer questions, and even take a photo of the patient to add to the record. Learn more about collecting data with our questions feature here.
Can we generate a report that shows comings and goings per day?
On the Scans page, you can filter and view a report of codes scanned and even automatically export those records to Excel, Google Sheets, etc. When exported you can sort scans by ‘timestamp scanned’ or by user who scanned it.
Can I make the app look any different? For example, can I change what it says when a credential is invalid or include my company’s logo?
We offer the ability to customize the display of the response screen as well as change the response text as desired. Additionally, there are both free and paid options for white labeling the app to include your logo.
How can we update the quantity or other information about an item?
Every paid plan has unlimited scans available. Our pricing model is per device. A device is counted as billable if your authorized app-user signs into the device anytime during your monthly billing period. The monthly count is not based on concurrently used devices. Instead, it’s the total number of unique devices that are signed in during your monthly billing period. Each month this count resets and each device sign-in counts towards your plan limit.
Do we need special hardware to scan credentials?
CodeREADr is compatible with most devices. This includes iOS, Android, and mobile computers. However, we do not sell any hardware. Thus, it is up to you to decide on which devices you will use CodeREADr. Check device requirements for CodeREADr here.
What if there isn’t a good internet connection on location?
CodeREADr works offline as well as online. While certain features, such as conditional validation and cross-device duplicate checking, require an internet connection, the basic functionality of verifying a ticket against a database is available for download and use without the internet.
