How Does A/B Compare Work to Match Barcodes?

Our A/B Compare feature allows your app users to match two barcodes when scanned sequentially. First, the user scans the barcode on a list. Secondly, the user can scan the barcode on the target item to validate the match. If they match, the app user can be optionally prompted to collect associated data to be included in that formal scan record.

    Match and Record Online

This script will compare a Primary scan to a Question scan. The script for this mode is hosted on our servers using Postback URL. The mobile app needs internet connectivity for this to work. For detailed instructions in PDF form, please click A/B Barcode Scan and Compare.

    Offline with Syncing to Server

This script works online or offline. It uses our Custom On-Device Validation (COV) feature. The script is already written. You need to edit the script as needed. Then, paste it on the Advanced step when creating or editing your services.

Record Scans – Primary Scan to Question

This type compares the primary scan to a secondary scan made as a question-answer. If the initial scan (A) matches the question scan (B), the record will be valid.

Record Scans – Primary Scan to Session Question

This type compares the primary scan to the session question answer. If the initial scan (A) matches the session question scan (B), the record will be valid.

Validate Scans – Primary Scan to Question

This type first validates the primary scan against a database. It then compares the primary scan to the question-answer. If the initial scan (A) matches the question scan (B) AND is in the associated database, the record will be valid.

Validate Scans – Primary Scan to Session Question

This type first validates the primary scan against a database. It then compares the primary scan to the session question answer. If the initial scan (A) matches the session question scan (B) AND is in the associated database, the record will be valid.

Validate Scans – Question Answer to Response Text

This type first validates the primary scan against a database. It then compares the question asked to the associated response text. If the question answer (A) matches the corresponding response text (B) for the primary scan, the record is taken as valid. Here the database would be structured so that the primary scan is in column 1 and the expected question answer is in column 2.
