Track Registered Vehicles

Whether for a gated or non-gated parking lot, you can now easily track registered vehicles to detect unauthorised or delinquent vehicles and monitor lot usage by date, time and location. In addition, you can easily alert the vehicle owner of parking infractions or for leaving their lights on.

Integrate CodeREADr with Parking Management Systems

Facilities with parking management systems integrate CodeREADr within their application to add intelligent mobility and reporting; alternatively, they, or facilities without such systems, use CodeREADr as a stand-alone tool.

For instance, in managed lots, you can create a validation database of random IDs. Here, each ID is associated with the name, license plate, and contact information of the employee, resident, member, or guest. Then, you can print QR code labels (or other barcode types) with simple IDs and issued them to each vehicle owner for affixing to their windshield or for placement on their dashboard.

Note: You can print QR labels/badges/tags using low-cost programs, such as iBarcoder for PC and MAC (~$50.00). Alternatively, you could buy pre-printed decals or hangtags from companies like My Parking Permit with Code 128 barcodes or QR codes.

How parking lot attendants can use CodeREADr

Notably, parking lot attendants use CodeREADr to scan barcodes. If there is no barcode, they use the app’s lookup feature to search by the license plate number or owner’s name.

With each scan, you can give the attendant directed information about that specific vehicle. For example, you could indicate if the vehicle hasn’t paid their fee, and include their or towing service’s phone number. Also, if the vehicle is delinquent, blocking an exit, has a flat tire, the app user could call immediately. Moreover, you can prompt users to enter specific information regarding the vehicle. Importantly, you can do so by adding manual entry forms (via text or speech), multiple-choice questions, and photo capture, all of which become part of a formal scan record with timestamps.

Special Considerations when managing parking lot attendants

  1. The service can be an online or an on-device (offline) service, depending on the Internet availability. If an online service, the scan data will be posted to the server for real-time monitoring after each scan. If an on-device service, the scan data can be uploaded manually when the app user gets Internet access. Also, it can sync in the background if you check Auto Sync in the Advanced step.
  2. When asked to select the ‘Database’, choose the permit/vehicle database you’ve already created. Also, you can simply create a new name at this step and upload the database later on.
  3. Consider adding a Question (prompt) for data collection. The most common ‘Comments’ using a short answer form for the app user to enter information relating to the vehicle and/or the vehicle owner. They can use text or voice-to-text entries.
  4. Generally, you will see prompts after submitting the scan. With validation services, you can have one prompt after submitting a valid scan. For example, it will say the permit/vehicle is in the database. Likewise, you can see a different one after submitting an invalid scan. For example, it will say the permit/vehicle is not in the database.

Note: When done creating or editing your service(s), your app users will need to sign out and sign back in or refresh the app.
