What is Reverse Logistics?

The Reverse Logistics Association defines reverse logistics as “all activity associated with a product and/or service after the point of sale. The goal is to optimize or make more efficient aftermarket activity. Ultimately, it aims to save money and environmental resources.” Simply, reverse logistics is the process of returning materials to its source point. Basically, most enterprises need to use reverse logistics in some capacity. For example, here are some common use cases:

  • Return of unsold goods
  • Reuse/recycling/proper disposal of packaging materials
  • Return of damaged goods
  • Maintaining a revolving inventory/shared items between locations
  • Return of sold but unwanted goods
  • Repairing/maintaining of long-term items
  • Reselling of used goods

How can CodeREADr be configured to support these use cases?

Table Builder

Below are the finished service’s on device views. The process involves sending an item from a warehouse, receiving it again from the customer after use, and redistributing it for proper disposal at a waste processing center.

How to configure Table Builder

Select the curated Table Builder service and adjust the settings as seen below:

Step 1

First, add all of the questions that you will use in the process on the first tab of your Table Builder.

Step 2

Secondly, make only the first set of questions available to the user by making these questions both visible and editable for this step.

Step 3

Thirdly, users can see the prior questions. However, they can only edit the relevant ones.

Record Service

A simple way to avoid using Table Builder is to use a record service. Here, you can add questions to help your users enter information about the items.

Validation Service

You can check the items in and out from the same in-app service. Also, the portal tracking these items is available on both desktop and mobile. Moreover, you can download records from the scans.

Another simple version that could be useful for reverse logistics is a validation service. For example, enable users to create a detailed log of items being accepted for maintenance by setting up questions.
