For optimal QR code scanning, we suggest maintaining a size of approximately 0.7” to 0.8″ square, including a 0.1″ border. This size ensures fast and accurate scanning across various devices, even under challenging conditions like poor lighting or awkward angles. While smaller sizes and different barcode formats are acceptable, they may impact scanning speed unless you opt for our advanced SD PRO scan engine, which leverages the device’s native camera.

Strategies for Rapid QR Code Scanning

To achieve the quickest QR code scanning, it’s best to embed only the essential asset ID within the QR code. For instance, a code containing just ‘1234567890’ will scan much faster than one with additional data. Enhancing the scanning process, users can synchronize their asset database with, allowing the display of detailed information such as asset name and location upon scanning.

Selecting the Right QR Code Label Material and Considering Environmental Factors

The choice of label material is critical, especially considering environmental factors. Some popular options include:

  • Vinyl (LMV5000): Perfect for outdoor conditions, resisting temperatures up to 176⁰F and moisture, with a low gloss finish for better scanning in bright conditions.
  • Polyester (LMP6000 – also known as LPA7031): Offers durability against chemicals and moisture, suitable for temperatures up to 300⁰F, and has a medium gloss finish.
  • Polypropylene (LMR4016): Known for excellent adhesion on various surfaces, moisture resistance, and suitability for temperatures up to 200⁰F, with a high gloss finish.
